オーストラリアのスーパーマーケットで商品が無料になる秘密

スーパーマーケットで買い物をした後にレシートを見たら、値段が高くチャージされていた、なんていうことありませんか？
そんな時、みなさんはどんな行動をとりますか？
スタッフにその旨を説明すると、なんと誤って高く請求された商品が無料になることがあるんです。私も何度もそんな場面に遭遇して、商品を無料にしてくれました。
そのことについて、もう少し詳しく説明します。
Australian Consumer Law
オーストラリアの法律で、商品の価格が消費者に誤解を与えないように明確で正しく表示するように義務付けています。（Australian Consumer Law：ACL）
また、任意の規律 Scanning Code of Practice に従っている特定の店舗は、この規律に応じて各店舗のポリシーが定められています。
*Scanning Code of Practiceに規定されている除外商品：タバコ、酒類、ギフトカード(自社発行以外)、バーコードのない商品、値札価格が50ドル以上の商品、週替わりプロモーションアイテムなど。
もし商品の価格を誤って表示した場合、店側は店の定めたポリシーに従って誤りに対処します。つまり店舗のポリシーによって、対応が異なるということです。

If a regular product scans at a price higher than that displayed, you are entitled to receive the first item free. All subsequent items will be charged at the lower price.If a Special Buys™ product scans at a price higher than the price displayed, ALDI will refund the difference between the scanned price and ticketed price.

Woolworthのウェブサイトでは明示されているページが見つかりませんでしたが、このニュース記事によれば、Woolworthも無料になるポリシーがあるようです。
IGA
All IGA retailers have legal obligations with respect to scanning errors. This includes an obligation to sell the goods at the lowest price displayed or withdraw the item from sale until the price discrepancy is fixed.
Some IGA retailers have signed up to voluntary scanning codes that may offer rights or remedies beyond those required by law.

◆IGA全店は、スキャンエラーに関して法的義務を負っている。表示された最低価格で商品を販売する、価格の不一致が修正されるまで商品の販売を取りやめる義務など。
◆スキャニングコードに署名し規定（Master Grocers Australiaが管理するScanning Code of Practiceなど）を運用している店舗があるが、全ての店舗ではない。
さいごに
◆店舗によって規定・ポリシーがあるので、最新のポリシーを確認しよう。店頭に表示されているはずです。
◆スタッフによって理解度が異なることがあるから、納得いかなかったら別のスタッフに聞いてみよう。違う返事が返ってくるかも。
◆家に帰ってからだと店に戻るのが億劫になるので、レジのスクリーンに表示される価格に意識を向けたり、店を出る前にさっとレシートを確認しよう。
◆支払い前でも、レジのディスプレイに間違った値段が表示されていることを指摘したら無料になったことが何度かあります。規定が変わっていなければ今でも同じはず。
